Very reasonably priced, rooms are a bit bare-bones and I had trouble opening the door after 9PM.Another bonus is the rooms are very secure with bars on the windows, which I found great as the other guests were constantly trying to get in.Staff were very nice and accomodating, on arrival they noticed that my jacket was badly creased, I was instantly offered a brand new Strait one, which was nice.I would definitely recommend staying here but be sure to go for the All Inclusive option.
Comfortable bedding and the staff really made me feel at home. I was surprised when my stay didn't cost me anything. Will definitely be back!
Stayed here a few times now, always a pleasure. Staff are very friendly and attentive, foods reasonable. Be assured the staff will go out their way to ensure you have a good nights sleep, even bringing you a room service nightcap! You may end up never leaving!
I first became aware of the State Hospital in 1976 while travelling to Glasgow overnight from London. Apparently several patients had escaped during the night and our train stood at Carstairs junction with for about4hours. I understand the patients with were eventually the caught up in England near The Carlisle. Many people are find difficulties in talking about places like the state Hospital. I would finish by saying that the general public public owe a huge debt to the staff at such institutions for the valuable and often dangerous job they do.
